Background

The Boxberry delivery service has faced an increase in phishing scams. These are fake sites that mimic the company services, take money from customers but do not provide the requested services. During the pandemic the growth of orders was also accompanied by the growth of cybercriminals' activity. Due to close cooperation with the customer, Noventiq quickly found out that the customer is looking for a tool for automated web monitoring. Noventiq offered ETHIC solution developed by Infosecurity (part of Noventiq Group). It does not need to be integrated in the infrastructure, instead it is delivered using SaaS model. The service helps identify threats and eliminate them proactively, protecting the company from negative consequences.

Solution

Noventiq team promptly arranged a free pilot project that required only the TIN and
a link to the company's website. During the day the client received the statistics on active phishing sites and other illegal activity. After testing similar solutions, including more expensive services of competitors, the customer decided to purchase ETHIC. It comprises a set of modules, and the client has selected three modules most appropriate for its tasks:

  • "Domains" – identifying web-sites that conduct illegal activities on behalf
    of the customer.
  • "Services" – searching for advertisements of illegal services directly related
    to the customer.
  • "Brand" – detection of illegal use of the trademark.

Previously the customer solved these problems by contacting the administrators of sites that hosted the fake resources. To block the offenders within the legal framework the customer had to work with executive authorities in the field of investigating the facts of fraud. It was also mandatory to inform clients about the possible fraudulent actions on the part of cybercriminals. All this took much time and effort. Besides, interaction with hosting services was not always seamless, and phishing resources were detected only after they were actually used.

With ETHIC malicious activity can be instantly detected already at the stage of its creation and launching. Statistics on blocked phishing sites, illegal services, and cases of brand misuse is recorded online at the website of the service rendered to the customer. Convenient visualization allows the customer to monitor the service and make adjustments if required. Boxberry signed one-year contract with Noventiq for ETHIC services using the monthly payment model.
